Import from Hourglass app

New World Scheduler supports Importing and Exporting data into a variety of common file formats.

We believe your congregation and person data is your own, and you should be able to Import and Export your data as you wish. We also believe that as true Christians, it is both reasonable and right to allow data exchange between other JW scheduling programs.

New World Scheduler can import the following from Hourglass app into New World Scheduler:

What is Hourglass app?

Hourglass App is also known simply as Hourglass, and is a web-based unofficial JW app. It has been designed for congregation secretaries of Jehovah’s Witnesses to allow them to maintain electronic Publisher Cards, Field Service reports and other congregation secretary responsibilities.

All publisher data and records used by Hourglass App are stored on online storage servers owned by Hourglass.

Hourglass is fully online and fully web-based. No data is stored on your local computer, rather all data stored on their online storage servers.

In contrast, NW Scheduler stores all data on your local computer, and this data is also encrypted.

Import Congregation and ALL data from Hourglass app (recommended)

Export from Hourglass App

  1. Visit https://app.hourglass-app.com/ and login
  2. Ensure you are using Hourglass v2
  3. Click Congregation > Profile & Permissions and ensure E2E Encryption is DISABLED
  4. Click Congregation > Export
  5. Download the hourglass-export file to your computer, e.g. My Documents.

Import into New World Scheduler

  1. Open New World Scheduler
  2. At Getting Started, click Import Congregation from Hourglass
  3. Carefully follow the instructions, then click Import
  4. Your data will now import
  5. Once the Import is completed, the Import Log will appear
  6. Please carefully check the Import Log, then click Save Import Log and Close
    • Note: When you click Save Import Log, you will be asked where to save this file to. Select a location on your computer, e.g. Documents.
  7. If there are any major problems, see Import Problems

Import Persons and Publisher Records from Hourglass app

  • Note: If you have already created a New World Scheduler Congregation, we recommend you first Delete the congregation before importing from Hourglass. Otherwise, please follow these instructions to import from Hourglass app into an existing New World Scheduler Congregation.
  • If the First Name and Last Name exactly matches, the person record will be merged. Otherwise a new person will be created.

Export from Hourglass App

  1. Visit https://app.hourglass-app.com/ and login
  2. Ensure you are using Hourglass v2
  3. Click Congregation > Profile & Permissions and ensure E2E Encryption is DISABLED
  4. Click Congregation > Export
  5. Download the hourglass-export file to your computer, e.g. My Documents.

Import into New World Scheduler

  1. Open New World Scheduler
  2. Click Persons
  3. Click Import
  4. Click from Hourglass App
  5. Follow the instructions, then click Import
  6. Your person data will now import
  7. Once the Import is completed, the Import Log will appear
  8. Please carefully check the Import Log, then click Save Import Log and Close
    • Note: When you click Save Import Log, you will be asked where to save this file to. Select a location on your computer, e.g. Documents

Import Territories and Territory Assignments from Hourglass app

NW Scheduler can import congregation Territories and Territory Assignment Records from Hourglass app

Export from Hourglass App

  1. Visit https://app.hourglass-app.com/ and login
  2. Ensure you are using Hourglass v2
  3. Click Congregation > Profile & Permissions and ensure E2E Encryption is DISABLED
  4. Click Congregation > Export
  5. Download the hourglass-export file to your computer, e.g. My Documents.

Import into New World Scheduler

  1. Open New World Scheduler
  2. Click Territories
  3. Click Import
  4. Click from Hourglass App
  5. Follow the instructions, then click Import
  6. Your person data will now import
  7. Once the Import is completed, the Import Log will appear
  8. Please carefully check the Import Log, then click Save Import Log and Close
    • Note: When you click Save Import Log, you will be asked where to save this file to. Select a location on your computer, e.g. Documents

Territory Boundary

Territory Boundaries can be imported from Hourglass app into NW Scheduler.

However, multi-boundaries (multiple shapes) are not supported. A Territory Boundary must represent a single shape.
